A whole staff CPD that can be either delivered in person, or sent out as a remote CPD if necessary due to Covid-19 or staff absence. This should only take about 20-30 minutes to deliver depending on the amount of detail you would like to go into. There are notes on most of the slides elaborating on the points made in the slides, as well as a copy of my Printable guide for supporting Trans and NB students. Statistics come from Stonewall’s Guide for Supporting LGBT Young People.

A resource to be used in conjunction with the book “Prince and Knight” by Daniel Haack. A great LGBTQ+ friendly story, beautifully illustrated and engaging, which has many different layers in which to discuss. This resource includes example activities for before, during, and after reading, questions to ask during the reading of the book, and suggested activities to consolidate learning once the book has been finished. Aimed at early years and KS1, but could easily be adapted to work for KS2 if necessary. There is also scaffolding within the resource and use of Makaton signs to discuss emotions. Teacher notes at each stage of the resource guide the teacher and make suggestions. A great resource for anyone looking to add more diverse books and characters into their classroom but unsure of where to start or how to begin discussing these topics with younger students.

There are 60+ LGBTQ+ Heroes on this powerpoint, including heroes from every subject. Each slide contains a picture of the person and a short biography of them and their life. People from all walks of life and all periods of history have been included to make the range of people as diverse as possible. A resource to help celebrate Pride in school. A PowerPoint with different pride flags and what they mean, exploring when they were designed and what the colour symbolism is. Also includes a short quiz activity for the end of the tutor time and a longer design/drawing activity if you have a longer amount of time for your registration period. There are teacher notes at the beginning to explain how to use the resource effectively and how to ask questions etc from your students. Hope you find it useful, happy Pride month!

KS1 KS2 Primary Assembly Pride Month This is an assembly with guidance notes for presenting. The first part of the assembly consists of an explanation of what Pride is and why it is important for us to celebrate it, and the second part has some examples of famous and notable LGBT + people from both modern times and history.

This is a PowerPoint which could be used either as an assembly or as a tutor time/registration time activity. It explains the meaning behind National Coming Out Day and why it is important, includes real life coming out stories from celebrities and other LGBTQ people, and has a slide which includes charities that young people can go to for support and advice. The slides finish with a copy of Dean Atta’s poem How To Come Out As Gay from the book The Black Flamingo.
